Here is the link to the guidance document that DOE and NREL developed for fleets to understand how to make an application to DOE for Alternative Compliance. The guidance document is a complement to the rule that was issued March 20, 2007. Over the next few weeks we will also issue online tools and a tutorial that will help make this simpler for fleets that want to go through the process.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) oversees federal regulations with respect to the nation's alternative fuels and fleet programs.   Members of NCSFA are subject to compliance with DOE guideline and DOE has now consolidated its efforts at providing current information several web sites found below:

 Alternative Fuels Data Center The Alternative Fuels Data Center is  a detailed site for alternative fuel vehicle information. Members will find information on alternative fuel vehicles (www.afdc.doe.gov) at: www.afdc.doe.gov/afvehicles.html and search for AFV-related articles at: http://www.afdc.doe.gov/cgi-bin/doc_search/searchora.cgi. Moreover,  NCSFA members can learn about how the Energy Policy Act affects them at: www.afdc.doe.gov/fleet.shtml and members can search a database with interactive maps showing AFV fueling locations: www.afdc.doe.gov/refueling.html.


Vehicle Buying Guide

The Vehicle Buyer's Guide, which is related to the AFDC Web site, helps fleets and consumers select AFVs that are right for them based on costs, specifications, and fueling/vehicle availability: http://www.ccities.doe.gov/vbg/fleets .

 

DOE Clean Cities Program

The website www.ccities.doe.gov focuses on services offered through the Clean Cities program which many of NCSFA members belong to and which is  sponsored by the US Department of Energy to further public-private partnerships in local communities.
